Weather

What if it’s raining? Rain and snow happen. Still, we strive for good weather in all of our photographs! When we have a “washout” or snow, we will reschedule the entire day. We try our best to make weather-related decisions by 8 AM every morning, but always do so as soon as we know the weather will not improve. In most cases, we will move appointments from a rainy or snowy day to the very next day. We aim to keep appointments at the same time of day. However, in busy seasons (spring!), we may have more than one day’s worth of appointments for weather. We will work with you and your sellers to make this as painless as possible.Unlike rain, snow often sticks around for more than a day or two. If you need a property photographed during a period of lingering snow, we will go ahead and take the pictures. Once the snow clears we will take new exteriors photos. Want Blue Skies? Schedule your photos for a time when the sun shines on the front of your property. Suncalc.org can help you see when it will be well-lit. Cloudy days: We are always happy to reschedule with you if you prefer a sunny day.

If it’s raining can we do interiors only and exteriors another day? Yes! You will be billed for an additional “exterior only” shoot.

Scheduling

How do I schedule a shoot? All shoots must be scheduled online through our booking app, on our website. We no longer schedule shoots via email or text. You can visit our scheduling page HERE.

Need to Reschedule? When you book online, you will receive a text & email confirmation. Inside will be a link that will allow you to reschedule or cancel the shoot. If you successfully reschedule your shoot, you will receive a confirmation text. Cancellation within 12 hours is not possible on the website, and will result in a fee for the shoot

Preparation 

How do I best prepare for a shoot? Preparing for a shoot can be overwhelming, and time consuming. To help you focus on the areas that are most crucial to photos we’ve created a prep guide that you can view & send to your clients HERE.Does someone need to be present? No, We actually prefer if we can take our time and work alone. If you would like to be there to highlight what areas you feel are most important we will make sure to focus on those areas.Will you move things or pickup if the room isn’t ready? While we work very hard to make sure the photos look the best, we can’t clean up after the home owners. If a chair or item needs moved to get a better photo we will happily do that, but if a room is cluttered or dirty we cannot move all the items or wait for someone else to do that.

How many photos will you deliver & When? Delivery time is always within two business days. The amount of photos varies based not just on the size of the home, building or project, but on the level of detail. We shoot each and every project in a way that best highlights, without a specific number of photos in mind, just enough photos to be sure we don’t stutter. For Real Estate for sale, we make a conscious effort to capture the home in 50 images or less; For everything else, you can expect approximately 50 images per hour.

Travel

Yes, we love to travel, but there are travel fees for anything outside of the Shenandoah Valley.Yes, for anything that requires more than 45 minutes drive we charge $75 per hour of driving time. For example if a home is located 2 hours away from our office, there would be a $300 travel fee to cover the 4 hours of drive time there an back. For out of town shoots, you can still schedule online.  If the weather shows greater than a 40% chance of rain we will automatically reschedule.

How It Works
Our automated scheduling service gives you the flexibility to make an appointment at a time convenient for you — found under the “Schedule” tab.

If you need a photography service that is not on our scheduling menu or encounter difficulty online, you may also call us during office hours. We respond to calls and emails between 9 AM – 5 PM, Monday through Friday. If we miss your call we do our best to return it by the end of the same business day.

A zipped (for easy download) folder of your internet or MLS-sized photos will be delivered to your email, within 2 business days.

Make the Most of Our Services
Our streamlined practices make things easy.

Still, there are a few things you can do to keep everything running smoothly. Check out some of our most useful tips:

General
For the most flexibility and the lowest costs, schedule your shoots at least a few days in advance. We often block days off when nothing has been scheduled 2 business days out, reserving these days for office or studio work.
You are welcome to schedule as far into the future as you like, and cancel or reschedule if things don’t work out – to be sure that you get the date and time you want.
Availability: Appointments with Swartz Photography are available Tuesday – Thursday each week, year-round. While we reserve Monday and Friday appointment times for traveling, overflow and emergencies, we sometimes are able to open appointments for those days, too. Upon request, weekend shoots may also be available.
Please note that our weekend rates are double the normal service fees.
Occasionally, holidays, vacations, or other work commitments require us to close off appointment days. In these situations, we will block off the days at least two weeks in advance, and make an announcement on our website and social media.
Turn- around time: Once we shoot, we guarantee delivery of the images from that shoot within two business days. For example: photographs from a shoot scheduled on a Thursday will be delivered no later than the
following Monday.
We do our best to accommodate last minute requests for images, and will work with agents on a case-by-case basis. The fee for “emergency” scheduling is $149, and will be applied to any photoshoot that is scheduled after 5pm (close of business) on the day before the shoot.
If you need your photos faster, we also have RUSH delivery service available. This fee is $49 for guaranteed next business day delivery and $99 for same day delivery.
Scheduling: All appointments should be scheduled through our scheduling system. Appointments can almost always be modified within the scheduling system. Cancellations, rescheduling, and new information can easily be dealt with through your personalized account.
Please note: though useful, the scheduling system will not process changes within 12 hours of an appointment. For
special circumstances, such as scheduling or cancelling at the last minute, please contact us directly as soon as possible.
Rescheduling/Cancellations: Don’t feel bad about rescheduling or canceling as many times as necessary to insure your place is ready for photographs. We want to capture your properties at their best and avoid return trips to correct for issues!
Appointments may be rescheduled online as late as 24 hours before the appointment time. If you need to make changes after that time, please call or email us. Last minute rescheduling requires us to quickly make changes to our schedule that day.
Rescheduling or cancelling after the start of the business day (9 AM) will result in a cancellation fee of $50.
